CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A SUNY-wide initiative will allow SUNY Cortland students to pursue paid internships through Special Olympics New York.

Through the partnership, students at SUNY schools will be given the opportunity to contribute to Special Olympics New York projects and initiative throughout the state.

“Special Olympics New York is proud to partner with SUNY Cortland and other campuses across the SUNY system to provide students with meaningful, paid experiences that will build professional skills while making a lasting impact in their communities,” said Special Olympics New York President and CEO Stacey Hengsterman. “Whether students will be organizing events, supporting athletes, advancing health initiatives or promoting inclusive schools, these internships give students the opportunity to lead with purpose, gain hands-on experience, and help create a more inclusive New York. We’re excited to welcome SUNY students to our team.”

Paid internships will begin in the coming fall semester, allowing students to work in the following areas/roles:

  • Polar Plunge Event Management
  • Unified Champion Schools
  • Assistant Coach
  • Sport Management
  • Health
