ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Infrastructure updates are coming to Stewart Park.
Senator Lea Webb says 120 thousand dollars in state funding will help build a new addition to the large pavilion. Equipment and supplies for Stewart Park Day Camp, which is currently housed in the Wharton Studio Building, will move into the new addition once it’s complete.
“This park is a cornerstone of our community, offering a space where people of all ages can come together to enjoy recreation, education, and cultural activities,” Webb said. “By enhancing the safety and accessibility of the Pavilion for the Ithaca Youth Bureau and its campers, we are not only supporting our youth but also laying the groundwork for the Wharton Studio Building to be transformed into a vibrant cultural center. I am committed to allocating resources to projects like this that strengthen our community bonds and create lasting opportunities for everyone to connect and thrive.”
“Ithaca’s parks and natural areas are some of its greatest assets,” said Ithaca Mayor Robert Cantelmo. “They anchor our neighborhoods and offer residents a place to seek recreation and community, while serving as a tourist destination for those visiting our beautiful city.”
Webb announced the funding on Tuesday afternoon.
