CORTLANDVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) — A speed limit in Cortlandville is now lower. 

The Department of Transportation tells WHCU that the speed limit on a stretch State Route 215 has been reduced to 45 miles an hour out of safety concerns.

“Safety is always the top priority of the New York State Department of Transportation. To further enhance safety, the Department has reduced the speed limit on State Route 215 to 45 miles per hour. The new zone covers the stretch of the roadway from just south of Bennie Road, or about 400 feet south of the Willowbrook Golf Club, and runs north to the current 40 mph zone, which starts just south of Starr Road.”

A DOT spokesperson says signs with the new speed limit have been installed.
