CAYUGA HEIGHTS, NY (607NewsNow) — Sunshine will benefit the Cayuga Heights Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Solar panels were recently installed on the rooftop. Cayuga Heights Mayor Linda Woodard said she’s excited about the eco-friendly change.

“This is something I’ve been pushing for a couple of years now,” she said.

Woodard said installation was initially delayed by renovation work.

“We found out that the roof was in need of being repaired,” she said. “We decided it was much better to actually repair the roof before we went ahead and put the solar panels on.”

Woodard said the village spent about $20,000 on the repairs. The panels themselves were largely covered by grant funding.
