ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Across the country, airports are experiencing delayed or cancelled flights.

The Ithaca Tompkins International Airport is not immune from the problem, which officials noted on Facebook comes as the result of FAA staffing shortages caused by the ongoing government shutdown.

“We understand how frustrating and disruptive this can be and want to help travelers navigate the situation as smoothly as possible,” airport officials said.

They suggest checking directly with airlines for flight statuses, and also to contact the airline to reschedule a flight that was cancelled or to request a refund.

“Airlines are offering free changes or refunds for travelers booked between November 6–13,” officials said.

According to CBS News, a deal to end the shutdown is possible by the end of the day.
