CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Cortland Police are searching for two people involved in a shooting incident.

On July 2, officers responded to a shots-fired complaint near the intersection of Union and Owego Street.

The caller reported that someone in a red sedan shot at his car as they drove by, shattering his passenger door window and nearly striking two people inside. The sedan fled the scene.

After getting statements from the victims and witnesses, investigators gathered security camera footage from homes and businesses in the area. The shooter, his accomplice, and the handgun have not been located.

As a result, Cortland PD is searching for the alleged shooter, 19-year-old Daryen Bethel, of Cortland, and 21-year-old Marcus Burns, of Homer, an alleged accomplice. Although it was thought to be a targeted attack, police urge extreme caution if you encounter the suspects.
