HECTOR, NY (607NewsNow) – A Schuyler County business is stepping up to help those in need.

On November 3, The Scale House Brewery in Hector opened its doors and handed out free take-out pizzas to anyone affected by the loss of SNAP benefits.

In a Facebook post, owner Luke Fazzary said he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community, other businesses, elected officials, and his staff, who showed up to offer their time and services on a day when the restaurant is typically closed.

Donations poured in to help fund the event, but Fazzary says it’s all going to the Hector Food Bank.

After a ruling from a federal judge on Friday, the Trump Administration will partially fund the SNAP program. However, the disbursement of benefits will be delayed. As a result, The Scale House is pledging to do it all over again on November 10 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
