HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – Two dogs are safe today thanks to railroad workers in Cortland County.

Earlier this morning, the New York Susquehanna and Western Railroad maintenance crew found two dogs on the train tracks just north of Hooker Avenue in Homer. The Homer Police Department says one dog appeared frightened, and another had an injured leg, adding the pup likely would have been unable to move for a passing train.
