PREBLE, NY (607NewsNow) — A Cortland County town is hoping to receive federal funding.

Preble is applying for $750,000 from the Community Development Block Grant Program. Town Supervisor James Doring said the town successfully received funding from the program over a decade ago.

“We [applied] probably 16 to 17 years ago, and so we’re doing it again for the second time,” he said.

Doring is cautiously optimistic about receiving funding again. He said there’s “no guarantee” the town will be awarded.

Doring said the money would be used to help low-to-moderate-income residents fix up their homes.

Preble is working on the grant application with Cortland-based consulting firm Thoma Development Consultants.
