PREBLE, NY (CortacaToday) — Leaders in Preble are pursuing more time to draft a law.

Officials are crafting legislation that would eventually ban all short-term rentals in the town. At Monday’s Town Board meeting, Town Supervisor James Doring said the process has not been linear.

“Putting together any kind of legislation, it has twists and turns on the journey,” he said. “The board realized that we needed a little bit more time to go through these twists and turns, and develop something that was accurate to the way the board is thinking.”

A temporary moratorium on new short-term rentals is scheduled to expire in late-October. Officials are looking to extend the ban another 90 days as they continue drafting the law.

In May, the City of Ithaca changed its regulations for short-term rentals.
