ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A recognizable detergent brand has recalled a product for potential contamination.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 50 oz. bottles of Woolite Delicates detergent could be a risk to specific vulnerable populations.

Officials say the bottles can contain the Pseudomonas species bacteria, including Pseudomonas oleovorans, an environmental organism readily found in soil and water. However, it can cause serious infections requiring medical treatment for people with weakened immune systems or external medical devices.

The bacteria can enter the body through the eyes or a break in the skin. People with healthy immune systems are not typically affected.
