NEWARK VALLEY, NY (CortacaToday) – A fatal crash in Tioga County is under investigation.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, the one-vehicle accident happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday on State Route 38 in Newark Valley. Authorities believe a vehicle went off the east side of the roadway, struck a mailbox, and a parked car, and came to rest on an embankment.

The driver was identified as 52-year-old Max Chandler, who died from his injuries.  Glen Dillenbeck, 63, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing.
