CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A former school building in Cortland is almost ready.

The Parker Elementary School will serve as a temporary learning space for over 100 Barry Primary School students this fall. The Cortland Enlarged City School District signed a 2-year agreement in December with the city of Cortland, who took over ownership of the Parker building after the school closed in 2019. The district’s operations supervisor, Jordon Lilley, explained on Ithaca’s Morning News on Tuesday, July 8 the building’s condition.

The move will allow construction work on part of the Barry Primary School, which will continue to host students and classes during the 2025-26 academic year.
