OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — An Owego road could see a new speed limit.

Town officials are requesting to put up signage on Academy Street that would make it a school zone. The road currently has a speed limit of 30 mph, but the change would lower it.

Town Highway Superintendent Mike Roberts said speeding is an issue on the street. He’s waiting to hear back from the State Department of Transportation about the potential change.
