OVID, NY (607NewsNow) — Ovid’s fire chief is encouraging more help.

In a post Thursday morning on the Ovid Fire Department’s Facebook page, Chief Timothy Westlake says we can help the town recover from a devastating downtown block fire last month with financial and food donations, moral support, and by keeping their needs front and center.

“Many people have been asking, “What is next?”, “How can I help?” Well, you all can help by doing exactly what you are doing. Continuing to help when and where you can financially with monetary and food donations, with moral support and concern, and most of all by continuing to keep our community needs in the spotlight,” Westlake wrote.

Westlake says it’ll take time to rebuild after several businesses and apartments were destroyed by fire.
