SUMMERHILL, NY (607NewsNow) – One person is dead, and another is recovering after a fatal Cayuga County crash.

On July 7, State Police were called to State Route 90 in Summerhill for a reported single-vehicle collision around 5 p.m.

According to investigators, a 51-year-old man driving a 2017 Chevy 2500 pickup truck was traveling east when he lost control and left the roadway. State Police say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected when the truck overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, 47-year-old Lawanda Eaton, of Cortland, was taken to Upstate University Hospital and is in stable condition.

Route 90 was closed between Hinman Road in Homer and Champlin Road in Summerhill for several hours. The investigation is ongoing.

In related news, a fatal crash in Cortlandville on Monday night is also under investigation.
