ALBANY, NY (607NewsNow) — A group of Republican lawmakers are calling for a clean energy strategy.
Senator Tom O’Mara spoke Tuesday in Albany, where he was joined by other Republican lawmakers.
CLCPA is the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act of 2019. O’Mara, who’s the ranking Republican on the state Senate Finance Committee, says utility rates are up sharply but he’s not getting answers.
“It has become clear that the current strategy is not realistic or achievable. It is not responsible or rational. There was no cost-benefit analysis. It lacks critical foresight and it unreasonably risks energy grid reliability and affordability,” O’Mara added. O’Mara is pushing for a delay to CLCPA mandates; Republicans are proposing what they call a ‘common sense’ package to give relief to taxpayers.
