ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – NYSEG is working on a service improvement project in Ithaca.
The utility company is upgrading the Fourth Street Substation in the city with a modern control building, new transformers, and switching equipment.
Officials say it will help increase energy capacity and reliability for more than 3400 customers in the city.
“The upgrades of the Fourth Street Substation will have a real benefit for our customers in Ithaca,” said NYSEG President Marc Geaumont. “Substation upgrades are essential for energy reliability in the communities we serve and help ensure that homes, businesses, and other facilities have power when they need it most. This project is part of ongoing investments being made to upgrade multiple substations throughout the Ithaca community.”
Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.
