BROOKLYN, NY (607NewsNow) – A Tioga County man is accused of threatening law enforcement.
On October 17, Owego Police were called to the Kwik Fill gas station on North Avenue for a reported “suspicious condition.”
Responding officers allegedly found that David Cox Jr., of Newark Valley, told others he intended to travel to New York City and “firebomb” NYPD officers and federal law enforcement during the “No Kings Protest” on Saturday. Owego Police relayed the information to every agency in the state.
The 54-year-old was taken into custody after the New York City Police Intelligence Bureau and NYS Police Counter Terrorism Unit located his car in Brooklyn’s 66th precinct. No weapons or firebombs were found during a search.
Cox is charged with making a terroristic threat, filing a false report of terrorism, and making a threat of mass harm.
