TRUMANSBURG, NY (607NewsNow) — A long-time project at Taughannock Falls State Park is now finished.

On July 25, the new Black Diamond Trail head building officially opened. The $1.4 million project, which began in early 2024, features a revamped spot with a 70+ vehicle parking lot, all-season bathrooms open from sunrise to sunset seven days a week, and a new bridge crossing.

In keeping with the historic theme of the trail, which is named for the Black Diamond Express passenger train line, the new building is designed to look like a train depot.

The Black Diamond Trail Head is located off Gorge Road, south of the Taughannock Falls overlook. Learn more here.
