PREBLE, NY (607NewsNow) – The New York State Police in Troop C have released the results of Operation Hard Hat in Cortland County.
On June 4 and 5, troopers dressed as construction workers in a work zone on Interstate-81 just outside Preble.

According to the NYSP, 153 tickets were issued, including 93 for speeding, 20 for using cell phones, and 22 for not wearing a seatbelt. Eight of the seatbelt violations were for unrestrained children. In one instance of speeding, a driver was allegedly traveling at 86 mph in the 55 mph work zone.

Operation Hard Hat is an enforcement campaign targeted at cracking down on speeding, failure to move over, and other violations in work zones.
