AUBURN, NY (CortacaToday) – Cayuga County health officials warn you to check your fridge after a national listeria outbreak.
As of Friday, there are 12 confirmed cases in New York including one in nearby Cayuga County. The bacterial illness can cause serious health problems in pregnant women, seniors, and people with immune disorders. The USDA has recalled all Boar’s Head liverwurst products produced between June 11 and July 17. Various types and sizes of deli ham, salami, bacon, and bologna produced on June 27, 2024, were also recalled because they were processed on the same day and manufacturing line as the liverwurst.
Anyone who purchased the affected products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Anyone who may have consumed the products is encouraged to monitor for symptoms, which, in some cases, can take longer than 30 days to show.
