KIRKWOOD, NY (CortacaToday) – A Broome County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading deputies on a chase.

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, authorities attempted a traffic stop after observing a motorcycle without a license plate. It happened around 8:30 p.m. on I-81 near Kirkwood. The driver, identified as Trae Salisbury, of Binghamton, exited off the highway onto Colesville Road.

The 29-year-old Salisbury allegedly sped away, ignoring multiple red lights and failing to signal before entering State Route 17 in an easterly direction. With patrols in pursuit, Salisbury eventually came to a stop near Exit 76 because of a mechanical failure.

Deputies say Salisbury had an unsecured small dog in his lap and admitted to having methamphetamine, which was allegedly confirmed upon search. Salisbury is charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer, criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstruction of governmental administration, and carrying an animal in a cruel manner, all misdemeanors.

The dog was transported to a relative of Salisbury’s in the City of Binghamton.
