OVID, NY (CortacaToday) – A Seneca County woman is recovering after a scary situation in Ovid.
Seneca County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Parish Road around 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024, for a report of a missing skydiver. The person was last seen coming down in a wooded area north of Ovid Airport.
Sheriff’s deputies were joined by the State Police, the Ovid Fire Department, the Lodi Fire Department, and the Interlaken Fire Department in the search. About an hour and 15 minutes later, 59-year-old Mary Joslyn, of Romulus, was located on County Road 139 with a minor injury. She was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle
Authorities say wind pushed her parachute off the course of the landing zone.
Responding agencies were assisted at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance, Seneca County Emergency Management, and the NYSP Aviation Unit.
