ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Talks are resuming to redevelop an Ithaca gas station.

Mirabito is looking to demolish its existing store on Pine Tree Road and build a bigger one. The Town of Ithaca’s Planning Board first reviewed the proposal in 2023.

Engineer Matt Napierala from Napierala Consulting said a car wash is no longer part of the project.

“The circulation was at question, the access was at question, and a lot of issues came about,” he said.

Despite having no car wash, the site would feature three electric vehicle charging spaces and eight fueling spaces. Napierala said two 20,000-gallon tanks would be at the site.

Another major aspect of the project is the construction of a Burger King. The restaurant would be part of Mirabito’s new convenience store building.

The Planning Board has yet to greenlight the project, though a preliminary site plan was approved on Tuesday.
