CANDOR, NY (CortacaToday) — Carterann Lower, a senior at Candor High School as well as a member of the health occupations class at TST BOCES, was selected as the recipient of Cayuga Media Group’s Distinguished Youth Award.

Carterann is a diligent student, serving as a junior member of the National Honor Society, who also has a penchant for community involvement. Outside of her studies, she is part of the Candor emergency squad and goes out on calls with her fellow squad members.

In addition to her participation on the squad, Carterann has put in time with local nursing facilities, utilizing knowledge from her coursework at TST BOCES to gain valuable clinical training. Her tenacity has earned her a membership with the National Technical Honor Society, and will surely take her far in the elder care field she has aspirations to work in.

Outside of academics and extracurriculars, Carterann spends time on her grandparents’ farm, where she shares her enthusiasm for horseback riding by teaching children how to ride. She also volunteers as a tutor at her home school.

Carterann’s exemplary character and multifaceted contributions to her community make her the deserving recipient of this April’s Distinguished Youth Award.
