MARATHON, NY (607NewsNow) – Some EMS workers in Cortland County are getting an equipment upgrade.

The Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MAVAC) is getting replacement portable radios for its vehicles and chiefs. The new Motorola APX N50 handhelds are smaller and lighter, have superior battery life, and advanced communication features.

The equipment was paid for with a $20,000 grant from the J.M. MacDonald Foundation.
