MARATHON, NY (CortacaToday) — Marathon is hoping to revamp its business district.
The village is pursuing a grant from the NY Forward program. Mayor Scott Chamberlin said the funding would benefit multiple projects.
“We have an opera house that needs renovations,” he said. “We have a motel in town that’s looking to make some improvements to it.”
Chamberlin said the village is optimistic about receiving funding, after missing out in 2023.
“We were disappointed we didn’t get it last year,” he said. “We were encouraged to definitely reapply.”
Applications for the NY Forward program are due on Friday.
