DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – A Venezuelan national who stole money from an ATM in Dryden is being deported.
On May 7, David Jose Gomez Cegarra was convicted of bank larceny.
Federal officials say he and several other co-conspirators stole over $290,000 from four different banks in Massachusetts, New York, and Illinois using an illegal technique called “jackpotting.” The incidents occurred between October and November 2024, including on October 17 at the First National Bank of Dryden branch in Dryden, where Gomez Cegarra stole $21,600.
Gomez Cegarra was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay restitution totaling $294,820. He was then turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
