LANSING, NY (CortacaToday) — A large brush fire in Lansing is under control.
No homes were impacted, but county officials say between eight and 10 acres of land were affected by the Friday evening fire between East Shore Drive and Cayuga Heights Road. Several area fire departments responded to the scene. State fire investigators are now looking into what caused the fire, which injured one firefighter.
Following the fire on Friday, Tompkins County Administrator Lisa Homes signed a 30-day burn ban. It bars residents from burning trash, tree limbs, brush, and leaves because of dry conditions from a lack of recent rain. Last week, Tioga County officials also introduced a temporary ban on outdoor burning.
