ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – Senator Lea Webb has recognized an Ithaca business with the highest honor bestowed by the State Senate.
Webb was in Fall Creek on Monday, September 30, 2024, to deliver the Empire Award to the Northstar House, which first opened in the Fall of 2009. Webb credits the bar and restaurant’s resiliency through several periods of national economic uncertainty.
Northstar owner Jed Ashton thanked his family and friends and the greater community for their support, adding that the recognition makes the team steadfast in their efforts to deliver locally sourced, health-conscious food.
“Receiving the New York State Senate Empire Award is an incredible honor,” said Ashton. “This award is a recognition of the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and our commitment to providing exceptional service to the Ithaca community. I’m deeply grateful to Senator Webb for this acknowledgement and for supporting local businesses like ours. This award inspires us to continue our mission of serving fresh, locally sourced food and fostering a welcoming space for everyone in the community.”
Webb adds small businesses like Northstar are the “backbone” of communities.
“Northstar is not only known for its incredible farm-to-table dishes but also for its dedication to sustainability and community well-being,” said Webb. “Their commitment to supporting local farmers, offering fresh, organic options, and maintaining an eco-friendly business model exemplifies what makes our region so special.”
