ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Jobless numbers in Ithaca are down. 

According to new data from the New York State Labor Department, Ithaca’s unemployment rate for October was 2.9 percent. It’s down from 3.4 percent in October 2023.

Between October 2023 and 2024, jobless rates also shrank in Cortland County and Tioga County. In Cortland County, October’s jobless rate was 3.1 percent. That’s down from 4 percent in October of last year. Tioga County’s jobless rate fell by .3 to an even 3 percent.

In New York, the unemployment rate for October fell to 4 percent year-over-year.
