ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The city of Ithaca is several years behind on audits, and they’re trying to bring things up to date.
Mayor Robert Cantelmo tells WHCU why the city fell behind.
An audit hasn’t been completed since the 2020 fiscal year. Last March, the city’s credit rating was withdrawn. The mayor says Ithaca’s office of controller remains understaffed.
Meantime, Cantelmo tells us the city is restarting its search for a new controller. Steven Thayer retired at the end of 2023 and two prior searches both ended without selecting a replacement.
