ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Ithaca and Tompkins County are exploring adoption of a minimum wage.
Ian Greer, a senior researcher at the Cornell University ILR School co-lab, tells WHCU the proposal might match the county’s living wage of $24.82.
Greer says such a change would impact a lot of people earning an hourly wage working in Tompkins County.
The cost of living in Tompkins County is higher than surrounding counties, Greer said.
New York’s minimum wage is $15.50.
