ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – An Ithaca man is accused of trying to kill a family member.
On July 7, Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Conifer Circle apartment complex in the Town of Ithaca around 7:50 p.m. for a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.
While en route, dispatch reported that two men had struggled over a .22 caliber rifle, and one had fled the scene.
Deputies observed a man matching the description running on Hector Street with facial injuries. The man, later identified as 30-year-old Frank White II, was non-compliant and taken into custody after a brief struggle.
According to witnesses, White pointed the rifle at a family member and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not discharge. White allegedly discarded the rifle nearby. Deputies were able to locate and secure the weapon after a search.
White is charged with felonies of attempted murder, robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon. Additionally, he faces misdemeanors of obstructing governmental administration and endangering the welfare of a child.
White was taken to Tompkins County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. He’s scheduled to appear in court on July 10 at 8:30 a.m.
