ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — An Ithaca lawmaker wants to increase language accessibility.
Alderperson Pierre Saint-Perez said Chinese and Spanish are commonly spoken in the city.
“We have many community members who struggle with English,” he said.
Alderperson Phoebe Brown said Ithaca has many Arabic speakers too.
The conversation about language accessibility and supporting inclusivity came during Wednesday’s meeting of the Common Council.
