The rating comes from Newsweek’s Readers’ Choice Awards, which began tallying votes in early May to choose the ten best markets in the U.S. out of 15 possible candidates. The candidates were selected by Newsweek contributors and featured panelists.

“Ithaca Farmers Market in the Finger Lakes has been welcoming foodies and lovers of all things local for over 50 years. From April to December, take home the taste of orchards, distilleries, bakeries, and coffee roasters produced within 30 miles of the city. The market also offers summer boat tours on Cayuga Lake. Each winter, you can sign up for the beloved (and famously wacky) Rutabaga Curl Competition.” – Newsweek

The Ithaca Farmers Market at Steamboat Landing is open Saturdays through December, and Sundays through November. The Wednesday Market at East Hill Plaza is open through October.
