ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – There’s a chance to meet Ithacans vying for higher office this week.

On June 11, a Common Council candidate forum will take place at GIAC, featuring hopefuls in two city wards who will give statements and answer questions.

Jorge Defendini, Leon Holden, and Alejandro Santana, who are running in Ward 1, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Deborah Fisher, Hannah Shvets, and GP Zurenda, who seek to represent Ward 5, are scheduled to begin immediately after, at 7:45 p.m.

If you can’t attend the meeting in person, the event will be livestreamed on the Tompkins League of Women Voters YouTube page.

The primary election takes place on June 24, and you must register by June 14 to be eligible to vote. More information from the League of Women Voters of Tompkins County is available here.
