ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A significant financial gift from alumni means the Ithaca College track and field facility is a go.

The 8-lane track and jumping event runways will be built on the west side of campus where football and other sports teams have practiced in recent years, and a small field behind Emerson Hall will be repurposed for throwing events. The infield at the track will remain natural grass.

The $4 million project is paid for by donors and the school’s capital funds.

“This is an important capital investment to improve the quality of campus facilities for both intercollegiate competition and recreation,” said IC President Terry La Jerne Cornish. “We are so grateful to our donors for recognizing the value this provides to our IC community, serving as a significant recruitment tool to attract the most gifted student-athletes and helping maintain the championship caliber of our track and field program.”

The project will be led by Clark Companies, the same contractor who completed the Bertino Field Project in 2023.

Pending town approvals, crews plan to begin construction in April, with a completion date of early September. Intercollegiate events are slated for Spring 2026.
