ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — FEMA is refreshing flood maps in Ithaca. 

For the first time in decades, the federal agency released a draft last year of new maps. Mayor Robert Cantelmo tells WHCU he didn’t like what he saw. 

Cantelmo says the city and FEMA looked at different data. 

The mayor adds city officials are appealing the maps, which could significantly impact flood insurance rates for Ithaca homeowners.
