ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Teacher contract talks in Ithaca will resume today.
It’ll be the first time the Ithaca City School District and Ithaca Teachers Association have sat down at the bargaining table since the end of the previous school year. Teachers are currently working under terms of the previous contract, which expired over the summer. Just before talks resume, the union will hold a brief rally.
“To highlight the issue presented by the lack of a clear and transparent salary schedule, the ITA will host their “Lost Wages Hunt” immediately before entering the room for their first negotiating session since June. Similar to an Easter Egg Hunt, ITA members, their families, and their community supporters will search the courtyard for hidden notes each of which represents a true case of lost wages that an ITA member has experienced in the ICSD,” according to a news release from the ITA.
The rally highlighting lost wages at 3:45 p.m., 15 minutes before the bargaining session begins.
