ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca Police Department is searching for a “suspicious” man who’s allegedly been trying to gain access into residences in the South Hill area.

“According to witnesses, the individual is described as a white male, approximately 6’5” tall, with an average build and in his mid-30s. He has short blonde hair that is beginning to gray and a beard. It was also reported that the male has a thin stripe tattoo on his right forearm,” IPD said in a news release.

“The individual has entered or attempted to enter several residences under the false pretense of performing maintenance work. Upon
investigation, it was determined that the individual is not affiliated with any legitimate maintenance service.”

Police say the suspect was last seen “wearing black work boots, cargo pants, and a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a gray t-shirt underneath. Additionally, he was driving a dark colored 4-door sedan.”

Ithaca Police “would like to remind members of the public to exercise caution. Always verify the identity and purpose of anyone claiming to represent a business or service before granting them access to your residence.”

There are no known photos or video of the man, but IPD says anyone with information should reach out in one of the following ways:
