ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A traffic stop involving the Ithaca Police Department and New York State Police have resulted in felony charges against at Ithaca man.
According to IPD, an Ithaca officer and state trooper were working together on a Gun Involved Violence Elimination (G.I.V.E.) details when they stopped a vehicle Thursday night on N. Titus Ave. near S. Cayuga St.
The driver, 45-year-old Albert Carthen, was allegedly driving on a suspended license. During a search of the vehicle, officers say drugs and drug paraphernalia were discovered. Carthen is charged with:
- 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second
degree, B Felony - Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, C Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth degree, D Felony
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd, Class A Misdemeanor
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd degree, Unclassified Misdemeanor
Following his arraignment, Carthen was taken to Tompkins County Jail without bail. In addition, 31-year-old Michael Gilmore had an active violation of probation warrant from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, so he was turned over to TCSO.
