CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — In Cortland, travel detours and delays are likely as production of an independent movie comes to town.

Waterloom Productions is filming scenes for ‘Trying to Seem’ in the Crown City over the next two weeks, starting today (July 31). Cortland Police and Fire Department officials will pause traffic and point drivers to short-term detours along Owego Street, Union Street, South Avenue, and South Main Street if needed.

“It’s exciting to see our city featured on screen,” Mayor Scott Steve said. “We’re thrilled to welcome Waterloom Productions to Cortland and showcase the unique character and beauty of our community.”

Much of the filming is being done on part of Tompkins St., between Main St. and Reynolds Ave. Daytime and nighttime delays are possible on the following days and times:

• Thursday July 31st (1:00 pm to 4:00 pm)
• Friday August 1st (1:00 pm to 3:00 pm)
• Tuesday August 5th (4:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
• Wednesday August 6th (12:00 pm to 4:00 pm)
• Thursday August 7th (12:00 am to 2:00 am)
• Friday August 8th ` (8:00 pm to 3:00 am)
• Friday August 15th (8:00 pm to 10:00 pm)

According to city officials, the movie “is a science fiction love story that explores technology and humanity, following a young woman from the future who discovers the feelings that make us human and finds herself falling in love.”
