HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — The Homer Fire Department is upgrading its fleet.

A new firetruck will replace two current vehicles. Homer Mayor Pat Clune said he supports the consolidation.

“I like the idea of combining two vehicles into one multipurpose vehicle that will not only get more use, but also be more useful,” he said.

Clune also said the purchase will “free up space” at the fire department.

On July 22, village trustees unanimously approved spending $520,798 on the new vehicle.
