HOMER, NY (CortacaToday) – The Homer Fire Department is crediting teamwork in saving a home from being destroyed.

Firefighters were called to a structure fire off Route 281 around 7:30 p.m. Monday. Responding Homer and Preble Fire units prevented the outbuilding blaze from spreading to an adjacent house. Nearly a dozen departments and other emergency agencies were on standby for mutual aid.

Homer Fire says the effort came during dozens of calls related to extreme weather in Cortland County and “reinforces the importance of emergency services working together.”
