HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — There’s a new deputy mayor in Homer.

Village Trustee Elizabeth McGrath was appointed on Tuesday. Mayor Patrick Clune said McGrath is willing to serve the position.

“She has graciously accepted, so long as I don’t do anything foolish like take up skydiving,” he said.

Village Trustee Ed Finkbeiner said the selection is a “good choice.”

Elsewhere in the area, Cortland lawmakers recently appointed Councilperson Troy Beckwith as acting mayor. He’ll serve as Mayor Scott Steve’s second-in-command.
