ALBANY, NY (607NewsNow) — Governor Kathy Hochul is commenting on Wednesday’s deadly attack in New Orleans.
“The terrorist attack that occurred in New Orleans [yesterday] morning is a horrible reminder of the threat terrorism of all stripes poses to our country, our freedom and our way of life,” Hochul said. “We fully condemn the cowardly act of evil against innocent New Year’s revelers. Additional information is continuing to come to light, but public reporting suggests this attacker may not have acted alone.”
CBS News reports a 42-year-old man, who was an ISIS sympathizer, drove through a crowd of New Year’s spectators on Bourbon Street, killing at least 15 people before later dying in a shootout with police.
Hochul is directing New York State Police to be on high alert while also noting there’s “no known connection” to the Empire State.
