DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County health officials are trying to rule out rabies treatment in an alleged dog bite incident.

On May 16, a large dog with grayish-brown fur allegedly bit someone’s hand around 3 p.m. near Keith Lane on the Dryden Rail Trail. The reporting party could not identify the breed.

The animal was being walked by a white man, aged 25-35, with another large canine, described as similar to a Burmese Mountain Dog. The Tompkins County Whole Health Environmental Health Division is trying to verify the biting dog’s vaccination status to inform the victim’s care plan.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Environmental Health Division at (607)-274-6688.
