ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Health officials are looking for information about a dog bite in Ithaca.

The incident allegedly happened on June 2, around 3:30 p.m., on the Monkey Run Trail near the Varna Cliffs area.

According to the Tompkins County Whole Health Department, a white man with facial hair was walking two dogs on retractable leashes. The biting dog is described as a medium-to-large “black Labrador-type.” No description of the second dog was given.

Officials want to verify that the dog is vaccinated to rule out rabies exposure treatment for the victim. The Tompkins County Environmental Health Department recommends you get bites checked as soon as possible and exchange contact information if a bite occurs.

Anyone with information is asked to call Environmental Health at (607) 274-6688.
